Be sure to take a look at the website this week. Explore the Training/Technique tab for some stroke drill videos. So, if you are wondering what the heck the windshield wiper scull is, it’s there, take a look! It is also important that you take a look at the Shop tab.

In the past we have traditionally designed a shirt for the State Meet, this year is no exception. We have also always picked a theme and/or slogan for the shirt. This year we have decided to honor the type of team that MAC is by supporting all of our teammates who have fought cancer over the years, most recently Irene Pawley-Kennedy and Barb Hertz. In doing so we have chosen to offer a lavender shirt in addition to the royal blue of MAC. Lavender is the color of awareness for all cancers and the survivors/fighters on our team have unfortunately faced many forms of cancer. Join MAC and the #BAN that we are at the State Meet this year because “Together we will Win”!

10 weeks until the State Meet!!!!!

Event Details/Results:

Brute Challenge: 200Fly, 400IM, 1650FR swum consecutively. You may stop as much as you need, as long as you finish the entire distance.

MAC Meet: SAVE THE DATE! The MAC Meet is our home meet and it is quickly approaching on Saturday, March 17. The 800 Free starts at 8am and we will need timers and counters for that session. We also provide snacks for all participants, so start thinking about what you can bring. If you have not yet done a meet with us it is a great meet to get your first experience in our home pool. Remember this is a METERS meet so when you are doing your entry, don’t forget to convert your times to meters. You can do all your entries online this year as well as turn your entry in to a coach on deck. Entry forms will be in an envelope on the window sometime this week and can be turned in to any coach on deck. There are typically around 100 swimmers at this meet and we would like at least half of them to be the MAC team!

State Meet: The relay doc is up! This is for MAC information and eyes only. The doc, in the link provided, is for all MAC State Meet swimmers to fill out their relay availability and the events they plan to swim at the State Meet. This doc is extremely important for the coaches when it is time to organize relays. All relays are planned/devised before the State Meet from this form! This doc is also great to see what other swimmers in your age group are swimming if you need help deciding on events and where you can score points. Here’s the link:

The wagering has started, let’s have fun and raise money for our own Jim Young Fund.

  • 1 ticket = $5, 5 Tickets = $20
  • Choose a coach (each coach will have a different ticket color).
  • Write the State Meet event that you want that coach to swim and your name.
  • Event with the most votes will win!
  • In case of a tie, we will have a tiebreaker raffle ($1/ticket, winner decides between the tied events).

This event will start at the Christmas Party on Dec. 16 and run until the Milford Meltdown. Results will be announced after the Milford Meltdown.

From the Coaches:

Kris: Wednesday’s Drill Workout Workout: A couple weeks ago we worked on keeping our heads steady for butterfly and backstroke. This week we will talk about how it affects and is incorporated into breaststroke. For those of you that missed the video we will try to look like this little guy while we breaststroke:

Maria: Join us Saturday for the Brute and Mini-Brute! This is a great challenge to measure your progress. You get to do it at YOUR pace, and take the rest breaks you need, so no excuses! Come, challenge yourself, and then celebrate your accomplishment!

Melissa: Even though it’s unlikely that I will qualify, I booked a hotel room in IN this week for Nationals!  Looking forward to cheering and supporting MAC and our fellow MI swimmers.  Consider going too!  Let’s get going on an IN Nationals MAC attack.

Dianne: Looking forward to getting back to the grind on Tuesday and Thursday. On Friday, let’s start from the deep end of the pool and make it easy on ourselves when we are ready to go off the block.

On a Personal Note: We are 10 weeks out of State Meet! Let’s get in the water and prepare to be #BAN!

10 Weeks to State
